Private Pumping Stations
If you have a private pumping station on your property you may wish to have a look at Anglian Waters specialist website set up to help customers identify and report the pumping stations easily, www.spotapumpingstation.co.uk.
From October 2016, many private pumping stations will transfer over to Anglian Water and become their responsibility.
Anglian Water Pollution Watch
This new campaign has been launched to ensure that Anglian Water spot, report and stop sewage pollution incidents as quickly as possible and minimise the impact to the environment. They now have a Pollution Hotline on 03457 145 145 which villagers can ring to inform them about potential sewage pollution issues in our rivers and waterways.
FLOOD WARNING AREA INFORMATION
Christopher Chapman of the Environment Agency informed the Parish Council on the 28th June 2016 that the Environment Agency have now created a flood warning area specifically for the Bumpstead Brook covering both Steeple Bumpstead and Broad Green. They anticipate that this will go live in the next week. This will mean that they are able to issue warnings specifically for the village.
This is however a new flood warning area, so the thresholds are set conservatively, and they will be reviewed each time the alert or warning is issued.
The Environment Agency would like help from residents to help them by recording flooding (safely). Currently they are looking at the 21st July (dependant on weather) as a date to hand deliver information to those properties at risk, and where possible speak to the occupants to explain what it means and where they can help by recording any flooding. They will be branded as the Environment Agency in their corporate clothing so it will be clear who they are. The Environment Agency have a helpful web page with further information www.gov.uk/floodsdestroy
We have also added the following documents which should be reviewed. (Please click on the document below for further information)
