STEB 395 site in Water Lane
A public exhibition is being held on Wednesday 20th September 5pm to 8pm in the village hall by Enterprise Property Group Limited. This will be an opportunity for residents to speak to the developers about this site.
Peter Stocking and Chris Jackson of Enterprise Property Group Limited attended our September 2017 Parish Council meeting in order to give us a rough outline of what might happen at STEB 395 site in Water Lane.
This particular area has technical problems concerning what they can do on the site. They have had two meetings with Braintree District Council. Three main issues are the public footpath, conservation hedge and being in a conservation area.
Affordable housing (probably taken over by a housing association) is legally required. Tenants will be taken from Braintree District Council housing list NOT Steeple Bumpstead people. They suggest any people who are likely to want to be given the opportunity to be on the housing list for affordable housing in Steeple Bumpstead should put their names down now. They intend on a good mix of housing i.e. one to five bedrooms. The total number of units will probably be 31. There will be a pavement which would probably go into the estate itself. The public footpath would be safeguarded.
Enterprise Property Group Limited is keen to speak to villagers about their proposals and it is an opportunity for residents to raise any concerns they may have for example about the suitability of and risk of flooding etc. at the site.
If anyone would like to volunteer their time to assist with the preparation of a neighbourhood plan for the village please kindly contact our Parish Clerk Mrs Argent. The Parish Council will be setting up a committee. The purpose of a neighbourhood plan is to have some influence over future development in the village.
